New Delhi: To improve positivity, enhance synergy and generate a healthy atmosphere within its ranks, the CBI is organising ‘Art of Living’ workshop for more than 100 of its senior officers. Presiding over the workshop will be none other than spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. At a time the CBI is grappling with a power struggle in its top echelons, none else can think of inviting a Sri Sri for a workshop of this kind except its interim Director M Nageswara Rao.

For the uninformed, Rao’s vision is to work for “Hindu renaissance” and his chief extra-curricular activity, when off duty, is to attend events of pro-RSS think tanks such as the India Foundation and the Vivekananda International Foundation. Rao is also close to key members of the RSS, including its pracharak-turned BJP general secretary Ram Madhav, who runs the India Foundation. He was also active in formulating a Charter of Key Hindu Demands that was released on September 23 by a group of activists and scholars.

Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan said he was not surprised that Sri Sri will be hosting the event. He tweeted: “Soon we will see Tantriks, astrologers & snake charmers in the CBI!” The 3-day workshop will start on November 10. Asked whether organising the workshop qualifies as a “policy decision” – the kind the temporary chief has been restrained from taking – the CBI spokesperson refused to comment.
